All the gossip from Oscars week in Los Angeles

*Piers Morgan is desperate to bag the first chat with Lindsay Lohan since her jail term last year. I hear Piers has been desperately trying to woo the star into talking and will be having her over for lunch any day now to try and seal the deal.
My source says: “Piers has been desperate to get Lindsay on his new CNN talk show and is going to pretty special lengths to get the deal secured. He’s determined to get her onboard.”
I also hear Lindsay has lined up her first movie role since her jail term in an action thriller called Escaping The Game. The flick is being produced by Lindsay’s close friend Lady Victoria Hervey among others and has a budget of £50 million. It will be so good to see her back on the big screen again.

*There was only one venue to be during the build up to the Oscars – Soho House. The amazing venue looks over the whole of LA and they serve the most divine Grey Goose vodka cocktails EVER. I slurped on one surrounded by movie stars one evening. I had Colin Farrell behind me, Andrew Garfield to my right and Pierce Brosnan to my left. Unreal.

*Meg Mathews continues to carve herself a niche as a top designer – her scarves are all the rage in the fashion world right now.
I met Meg for lunch at the Fred Segal café this week and she told me it’s not just her that’s working hard. Her daughter with Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, Anais, is also carving a career for herself – as a model. Meg told me: “Anais is 11 now and she’s modeling a bit. She recently shot a campaign for Paul Smith which is great. She’s such a cool girl and we’re incredibly close. But she’s in school now and works so hard. I couldn’t ask for a better little girl.” Sweet.

*Rumours that Carey Mulligan is dating Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal are wide of the mark. I can reveal Never Let Me Go star Carey is happily dating Brit actor Eddie Redmayne. A pal of the pair tells me: “They’ve been dating for a few months and it’s going well. It’s nothing too serious yet as they’re both busy. But it could be the start of something more long term.” I bumped into Eddie during my stay and he’s a thoroughly charming lad.

*Lawrence Fishbourne has a unique way of making sure we don’t forget that he starred in the Matrix movies – he wears a padded “Matrix Reloaded” jacket when he wonders around LA. I spied the star at on Sunset Boulevard in his jacket. Just let it go mate, let it go!

*Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz seem to be taking this gym and fitness business very seriously indeed. The pair have been spotted frequenting the –Gold’s Gym on Venice Beach in the past week. The gym prides itself in being ‘The Mecca Of BodyBuilding’ – and judging from Cam’s arms of late it is certainly doing the trick.

*E! News host Guiliana Rancic thinks Cheryl Cole will make a big impact when she starts work on X factor US. The red carpet host tells me: “Cheryl is perfect for the American audience. She’s beautiful, charming and clearly has a lot of charisma.
“We’re actually getting very excited for her to arrive and to realise why she’s such a big star in the UK. She’s pretty unknown here though – so I’m looking forward to finding out who else is on the panel.”
Guiliana also told me she can’t wait to come to London for an entire week in April to report from the Royal Wedding. She added: “You know what E! is like – we’re treating it very much like a red carpet event. Ideally we’d have Kate Middleton in the 360 degree fashion capsule that we use at all the awards. But I somehow doubt that will happen.”

*Colin Firth has promised if he does win his Best Actor Oscar then he’s going to keep the speech nice and concise. Colin told me: “I’m going to try and keep it as short as possible – if I’m lucky enough to get up there I guess I’ll just talk to the room. I don’t believe in the laundry list. There are certain people I do need to thank who are the reason I’m up there – but you know you would be there all night if you unburdoned all your gratitude.” He’s bound to cruise it….

*Last year I held Jeff Bridges Oscar at the Vanity Fair party in LA. But it would appear the golden statuette didn’t mean quite so much to him as it did to me – he’s lost his gong from last year. “I have no idea where it is,” he laughed. “It was moved when we had thanks giving and I’m not sure where it ended up. It might be in my sock drawer – I asked my wife to take it and hide it so I could find it in surprising spots – but that didn’t work out.”

*Helena Bonham Carter tells me she still hasn’t decided what to wear for the Oscars ceremony later today. The actress, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, revealed: “I’ve no idea what I’m going to wear. It’s a worry! Being a Gemini indecision is a problem – at the Globes it made my choice of shoe colour suffer. I genuinely couldn’t decide which pair to wear to chose to wear one of each! So who knows what I will decide on for the Oscars.” No doubt she’ll wear Vivienne Westwood. That’s a cert.

*I’m told the union between Rhys Ifans and Anna Friel is going exceedingly well. The unlikely pair were spotted together last week but I can reveal the pair have been enjoying a love in for quite a lot longer than we all think. A pal of Anna’s tells me: “They are a good match – we’ve all known about it for quite some time. They were hanging out last summer in Deia in Majorca where Anna’s got a house. But nothing started until more recently. He makes Anna laugh and she’s blissfully happy.” Good for them.

*Former boxer Joe Calzaghe was two beds down from me on my fabulously chilled Virgin Atlantic Upper Class flight to LA. It sounds as if the star is making a serious effort to break into the acting world in LA like fellow hardman Vinnie Jones. My source tells me: “He’s got a load of meetings about acting work. And things are looking good for him bagging a Hollywood role.”

*One star turning down her chance to be on the red carpet at the Oscars is Tron star Olivia Wilde. I hear the stunning beauty is hugely down in the dumps after the recent announcement that she’s divorcing her hubby of eight years, Italia Prince Tao Ruspoli. A pal of her s told me: “She was due to go to the Oscars but she’s decided to stay away. She’s struggling to cope with the divorce. It’s hit her hard.” Keep your chin up, Olivia.

*I hear Kelly Brook has been beavering away modeling her latest designs for her next swimwear range for high street store New Look. Kel’s been busy modeling the range in a series of photo shoots in LA in the past few weeks. There’s nobody better to model a bikini range – real women rock….

*Heather Graham hosted a swanky lunch at Soho House for Swiss jewellery and watch brand Piaget on Wednesday. The actress worked the room and nattered to other guests including Rosario Dawson, Minnie Driver, Alice Eve and Brit TV gal Louise Roe. Guests were treated to Ray Ban sunglasses as they left. Nice.

Sharon Osbourne is ready to kiss and make up with Dannii Minogue

March 1st, 2011

Sharon Osbourne is extending the hand of friendship to X Factor judge Dannii Minogue, hoping to end their four-year feud.
And in a dramatic U-turn America’s Got Talent star Sharon says she’d like to make a return to the UK as an X Factor judge.
I caught up with the fabulous Sharon ahead of the Oscars in LA, where she told me: “It’s fair enough to say we didn’t get on for a long time. But that’s all in the past. Dannii used to just be an old Eighties disco queen to me but now she’s blossomed into a true woman and I have respect for her.
“I would love to return to The X Factor and sit alongside Louis and Dannii. It’s time for me to come home.”
But the 58-year-old fears this may be out of the question because boss Simon Cowell has no intention of putting her back on the panel. She said: “Simon doesn’t want me back. He’s definitely keeping Dannii and Louis on the show when he and Cheryl Cole go to the US but he’s not even asked me about returning. I think he’s scared about not being able to control me if he’s away in America! But they’re good judges. I’d keep Dannii any day – I really would.”
I’m really pleased that Mrs O wants to wave a white flag in Ms Minogue’s direction. After working together on the fourth series of The X Factor in 2007 the pair hurled insults as sharp as a botox needle at each other.
Then Sharon enraged Dannii when she said on the Graham Norton Show: “Dannii knows she’s there because of her looks, not because of her contribution to the music industry.”
Dannii, 38, remained silent until her book last year when she wrote about an X Factor dressing room incident: “Sharon was looming over me screaming and swearing… five minutes later she was holding my hand on stage.”
Could a truce be on the cards? Over to you, Dannii…

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley talks Transformers and 'treats!'

Good news for fans of the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whitley, who has replaced Megan Fox as Sam’s new love interest in the upcoming “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, she will be stripping off for the May cover of famed photographer Steve Shaw’s saucy new magazine ‘treats!’. The magazine is described as Playboy crossed with Vogue and features high end nude shots throughout.
I caught up with Rosie and her man Jason Statham at the magazine launch in the Hollywood Hills and she told me she couldn’t wait for everyone to see the shots. “They’re incredibly tasteful and I love the magazine,” she told me.
Rosie also tells me the nerves are building for her appearance in her film debut. “I’ve seen the movie and it’s amazing,” she revealed. “I’m obviously nervous about it all. It’s a huge project and I had a lot of fun doing it. I just can’t wait for the movie to be out.” Good luck to her.

Kristin Davis, Demi Moore and Halle Berry step out for Disaronno…..

March 1st, 2011

Kirsten Davis

Another Sex and the City star is up for a third movie. Kristin Davis (above) was the hostess of the evening at the Costume Designer’s Guild Awards with Disaronno and told me she’s ready to get sexy once again. Kristin says: “Well I’m not the person who has to decide that thank goodness. I leave the pressure to Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King. I hope there is and I’m always hopeful of that and I always believe there’s another story to tell as these are women’s lives so why wouldn’t there be another chapter? I would love to do it and I know the other girls would too so watch this space. I really hope it happens and I feel optimistic it will.” Hurrah.

Ashton Kutcher Julie Weiss Demi Moore

How does Demi Moore (above with hubby Ashton Kucher and Julie Weiss) manage to look so good? God knows. But one thing’s for sure – the film star sure can eat. I watched in total and utter amazement at the Costume Designer’s Guild Awards with Disaronno as she woofed down two bread rolls, a starter of leaves, feta cheese, olives and tomatoes, a main course of pork chop with mash potato and polished off a fruit crumble in pastry with a dollop of ice cream. Demi must work out like a demon.

Halle Berry

Paris Hilton talks 'engagement' in Hollywood

March 1st, 2011

Paris Hilton has changed a lot since I first knew her. That wild party girl of yester year is a rare creature these days. The star told me at the Sunset Tower Hotel: “I don’t go out half as much. I prefer to stay at home really. I guess as I’m getting older I just don’t feel the need to be out all the time.”
The star also took time out to address the rumours that she’s become engaged to boyfriend Cy Waits. She revealed: “We’re not engaged and to be honest it’s annoying that these stories keep going around.”
The star also told me she can’t wait to come back to London in the summer – but says she’s now ruling out getting a place in the UK. “I was going to get a place at one point in London,” Paris said. “But I’m not anymore. I love going there though and it won’t be long before I’m back.” I look forward to seeing her soon….

It’s not everyday you get to go indoor skydiving with Tess Daly. But I did this week. Promoting the fact Maltesers are donating cash every time you buy a pack to Comic Relief we hopped to Milton Keynes to Airkix for our sky dive challenge. Tess  told me she believes the public outcry for her Strictly Come Dancing partner Bruce Forsyth to be Knighted is hindering his chances altogether. She said: “I can’t believe he wasn’t in the New Year’s Honour’s List this year. Brucie believes if everyone shuts up about it then he will get it. But he should have got it years ago. He thoroughly deserves it and for me, Vernon and the kids he’s like family. He leaves the funniest voicemails on our phone at home saying ‘Hello it’s Brucie’” Tess, who’s in talks with the BBC about presenting a brand new fashion and style show, also admits there’s no way Bruce with retire from the show that’s now entering it’s eighth year. Tess added: “Bruce won’t retire. There’s no need for him to bow out until he physically can’t handle the schedule. “He’s still happy on the show and loves it. And also why should he leave just because of his age on paper? Bruce will be involved in Strictly for many years to come.” Good to hear!

All the gossip from the Orange Baftas Film Awards….

February 19th, 2011

DEANPIPER
Helena Bonham Carter stole the show for me with her heartfelt speech at the Orange Baftas as she won Best Actress. And the star tells me she’s now not worried about her chances at the Oscars. Helena said: “I’m happy with a Bafta – it means so much to me actually. It’s completely taken the pressure of the Oscars off me now. Obviously it would be great – but it’s now not the be all and end all.”
The star, who looked fantastic in a Vivienne Westwood creation, also told me her ethics when it comes to fashion on the red carpet. Helena added said: “I always say wear whatever you feel comfortable with and don’t worry about whatever anyone else thinks. I get people saying nasty comments about what I’m wearing when I walk down the street and the press slate me. I always see myself in the worst dressed lists in magazines but you just have to dress for yourself and nobody else.” Hear, hear.

Neve Campbell is preparing to scream once again when Scream 4 hits cinemas in April. But the star tells me she’s nervous about the prospect of returning to the franchise. “It was fantastic to be back on the Scream films but I’m nervous about the film,” she revealed. “I’ve not seen it yet. I know a few test audiences have and it seemed to go down well.
“From what I know it’s going to be a return to form – more like the original film. Which is fine by me. Making another Scream film wasn’t an easy decision – but I’m pleased I did it. I just hope the fans enjoy it.” I literally cannot wait….

Inception star Tom Hardy (above) finally got his mitts with his Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award this week when funny man Alan Carr presented him with the gong. On Alan’s Chatty Man (on C4 tomorrow), Tom says he was gutted to have missed the awards. He revealed: “I’m about to go away to Georgia for 6 weeks and start a new film I had a choice whether to go away with the people I love or going to the BAFTAs. I’d booked to go away with my missus and see my little boy and then we watched it on TV and I was like ‘oh no’! I never expected to win so thank you, thank you very much,”
The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star award, the only BAFTA voted for by the British public, recognises an actor or actress who is predicted to go onto be an internationally recognised movie star. The public voted on a final list of five nominees selected by a jury including Tom Ford, actor Peter Sarsgaard and BAFTA jury chair Fionla Dwyer.

Boat That Rocked hottie Talulah Riley’s life has changed so dramatically in the past few years, She’s gone from being a super young new actress on the scene to the wife of internet billionaire Elon Musk and step-mum to his five kids – and she’s only 25. But she sounds like she’s taking her life changes in her stride right now. “I never thought my life could change so dramatically in just one year,” she laughed. “But it has. I get on with the children really well – they’re young so that’s made it a little bit easier. I’m blissfully happy though and things couldn’t be better.”

There I was thinking Mad Men’s curvy star Christina Hendricks had flown into London to hang with the A-Listers at the Baftas. I was wrong. I can reveal the star was actually on a personal visit to see her co-star on the hit US show Elisabeth Moss on the West End with Keira Knightley in new hit show The Children’s Hour. My mole tells me: “Everyone thought she was here to work – but she just wanted to visit Elisabeth and see her show. It was a quick trip in and out.” Good on her.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Olivia Palermo at LFW

February 19th, 2011

Olivia Palermo may have made her name demonstrating her sense of style during her time on American show The City but she’s over in London to wave the red, white and blue flag for all things British designed.
Wearing a Jaeger dress, Temperley jacket and Charlotte Olympia shoe boots, the red carpet regular showed her supported for our high-street by taking a front row seat at the Look Magazine Show during London Fashion Week.

How do you think British style compares to American chic?
It’s funny because I think the British girl has such an awesome edge to her and she has the chicness of that cool factor. New York girls have a bit more of a polished look so it’s a great balance. You always think of a girl in a great little skirt, leather jacket and that’s the London look.

Who do you rate style-wise in the UK?
You can never go wrong with Kate Moss – the Moss is great – and Cheryl Cole’s fashion is getting better. I think to be honest all of my girlfriend’s working in fashion are the ultimate chic. They are my little celebrities.

Cheryl’s coming over to America soon to be a judge on US X Factor. What tips would you give her to top the style pages like you’re doing?
I wouldn’t give Cheryl any style tips for when she comes over to America to be honest. I think everyone needs to do their own thing and she has a style that works for her and has a following and I think that it will definitely translate to a US commercial market.

And I hear that you’re currently working on designing your own clothing brand….
Yes, at some point. I don’t know when as it’s not in production yet. It’s a work in progress and I don’t have anything formal right now. I can’t give away all of my secrets and tell you if I’ve done any sketches yet! My inspiration for it is going to be Old Hollywood glamour it will never get old and that will always be my answer. It’s really important to continue that in everyday dress.

109257431BG081_LOOK_London_

Who would be your ideal person to dress – are you hoping celebrities will be walking the red carpet in it?
I want really chic girls to wear it. Really stylish girls that really loved to get dressed. I don’t think there is one big name that I would put out there. I think it’s just girls who get dressed and who have their own sense of style and make things work for themselves. To me that is the coolest thing ever.

Would you like a royal connection and have Kate Middleton wear one of your designs?
For me it’s not about the celebrity, it’s about the customer and making them feel good. I think it’s important that women know how to dress for a woman’s body.

And I also hear that you’ll be starting work on your own reality TV show?
No I’m not, it’s just a rumour. I think I will do at some point but it won’t be reality, it will be a documentary, but not right now. I think the focus will be on myself and young designers but I really can’t say too much because I really don’t know.

What projects do you have lined up this year?
My focus is on the modelling right now and that’s going really well. It’s really cool and I’m really liking travelling all over and seeing different places and doing it all on my own.

How do you stay in such great shape?
I think it’s just luck and my mum has amazing genes. Both my parents do.

Do you get to pig out on McDonalds?
I definitely don’t have McDonalds because McDonalds is garbage and so bad for your body. But it’s important to eat healthy and I course I like my little bit of candy and carbs. I love Sushi.
