I always thought that Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole was a fairly good egg with a sensible head on her shoulders. Having met her tonnes of times before I know she doesn’t beat around the bush so I never expected her to be such a complete loser over the weekend and take Ashley back into her life. But she has.

Last week Ashley was exposed as a love cheat when blonde hairdresser Aimee Walton sold her story saying Ashley had slept with her after a drunken night out and that he had an average todger and a bad case of manners (he puked half way through their sex and then climbed back on top for another shot – classy).

So the story appears and now Cheryl – who was once quoted as saying Ashley “wouldn’t dare” cheat – has taken Ashley back and they are giving it another go.

For a girl from the north with such a strong personality I expected more. She’s a disappointment. She’s continually been compared to Posh – and just like the Spice Girl she’s not got the balls to kick a guy to the kerb when they allegedly cheat. Let’s hope she sees the light over this week!

Here’s some good news – Amy Winehouse has finally checked herself into rehab within the last few hours. Read the statement below that just dropped from her PR firm minutes ago…..
I give it until the weekend before she’s out walking around. I hope gets clean this time.

Amy Winehouse’s planned appearance at the NRJ Awards in France on Saturday has been cancelled as the artist has entered a rehabilitation clinic.

Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors.  She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards. She is nominated in an incredible 6 categories.

Amy entered the facility by mutual agreement and continues to receive the full support of all concerned.

Amy is the most talented and important musical artist of her generation and has made huge strides on her road to recovery.  Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfil her incredible potential with the label.

The label has always had the best interests of Amy at heart and has been guided by her family and doctors in the last few months as to the best direction to take.

All concerned feel that Amy must put her health before all other considerations and will be by her side whenever and wherever they are needed.
UPDATE: Just to let you know. I’m wearing a slogan t-shirt today that reads: “I’m back like cooked crack”. How very appropriate.

The reason I think I was so sad and shocked by the surprise death of Heath Ledger is quite simple. I was prepared for two other stars to be dead before him.
You could say the entire showbiz world has been on ‘stand by’ for the past few weeks for the death of either Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse from a drugs overdose.
And then out of the blue came the news that Heath had been found dead in bed with a bottle of pills next to his bed.
Of course it’s extremely sad, especially considering the fact he leaves behind a two-year-old daughter with former partner Michelle Williams, but isn’t it sad that one of the reason’s the showbiz world is stunned is because we were prepared for another death in celebrityville?

Seven years ago when I started working at the Daily Mirror on 3am I was always shocked that they had obituaries written for celebrities in case of an untimely death. Back then Michael Jackson, the Queen Mother and Elizabeth Taylor had obits “ready to go” at a minutes notice. People would update their obits as stories broke week by week so in the event of them passing the papers could be up to the minute. And nowadays, with the internet as it is, obits are probably even more up to date and written to [perfection than ever before.

I ask you this. In this day and age how many other stars could have died just like Heath. There are dozens. How many can you think of? Unfortunately booze, drugs and pills are all to common and part of celebrity culture. And Heath’s death has only highlighted this point.

Eighties star Lisa Stansfield cut a sad figure when I spotted her at The Queens pub in Primrose Hill last night. Lisa – accompanied by three male pals – was hammered, greasy haired and wearing a long leather jacket when I spotted her on a nearby table. Agyness Dean made me pee my pants when she spotted the Been Around The World Singer. Agyness yelled: “Oh Shit – it’s Lisa bloody Stansfield. She’s from the same town as me.” Hilarious.

Last night was an adventure and a half. I went along with my buddy Caroline B and Kelly Osbourne to the exclusive launch of the new Fiat 500 car at the London Eye. It was all very sparkly and star studded even by my standards. And the car looks nice too. Kelly’s looking teeny tinier than ever before BTW. Her quote of the night as she frantically grabbed her ample bosom was: “Look, I’ve got no tits. They’ve gone since I lost a few pounds.” Indeed they had.

I had the shock of my life as I was walking in – two of my old college friends Giles and Steve were up on stage performing with their band The Vibrants. They absolutely rocked and they supported the big acts of the evening The Feeling and Mika. Giles told me: “It’s our biggest date yet and we’re looking to get signed – so watch out for us.” I think the music world will indeed be watching out for The Vibrants!

Other big names at the event were Eva Herzigova (who was looking radiant and slim as ever after recently giving birth), Eddie Jordan, posh totty Jasmine Guiness, a stunning looking Jade Jagger, TV presenter and all style expert Hannah Sandling and my model pal Poppy Delevingne.

I was extra specially excited as I got to hang out with the model of the moment, and if rumours are to be believed the modeling world’s new Kate Moss, Agyness Dean. Her skin is utterly flawless in real life and she was totally normal and down to earth with no airs or graces. I asked her what she was wearing clothes wise expecting some amazing designer names to bee rattled off. Refreshingly she replied: “Ooooohh nooooo, I’m easy me. Just a few bits and bobs. That’s all.” I like her. She’s ace.

Anyway, after the bash I went off for a gossip and a catch up with Kelly – who’s soon to be seen hosting her second season of Sky One’s Project Catwalk – and her pals. We went to Shoreditch House and then over to meet “Aggi”. It’s fair to say she’s worried about the welfare of Amy Winehouse, cannot stand Miss Peaches Geldof and is looking forward to making an appearance somewhere along the line on the evening of the Brits – where her parents will be hosting. Kelly also told me her parents new house in the valley inland from Malibu, California, is divine. She said: “At first I couldn’t understand why they moved there. But now I get it – it’s beautiful and literally has nothing in it’s view apart from the mountains. You can’t even see a house so it’s tranquil and so peaceful. I’m glad they love it.”

I sooooooo wanted the story yesterday in the News of the World about Kate Moss’s ‘orgy’ to be totally true. But of course it seems like it was spun, just a little, to make a fun news story and now Miss Moss is taking them to the cleaners. Kate’s suing over the story that alleged an orgy took place after her 31st birthday party last week. Heads will roll!

Elsewhere in the showbiz world all is pretty quiet – but tomorrow’s magazine will put a smile on all Closer readers faces! We have Anna Friel revealing she’s feeling fitter and healthier than ever and she even gives away her top juicing tips to look as healthy as she does. Oh OK, it’s beetroot, celery and dandelion leaves. Get picking those weeds people.

Keep your eyes peeled for Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria in London this week – she’s jetting in any day now to film the Jonathan Ross show on Thursday evening. She’s rumoured to be pregnant!

I’m highly excited about tomorrow because we get to hear the Oscar Nominations. This year it seems like Keira Knightley’s flick Atonement is sweeping the board with nods. So will it be the same for the Oscars? I think it will. Expect to see James McAvoy, Keira and the films director Joe Wright all getting nominations. My money’s on the film walking away with Best Picture at this year’s glamorous ceremony. And despite the Writer’s Strike it seems the ceremony will almost certainly o ahead. Thank the lord.

So I recently caught up with Madonna’s backing singer and friend of over 20 years, Donna De Lory, whilst on a trip to Los Angeles. I spoke to her about every tour Madge has ever done as well as a load of other stuff. It made for an interesting interview. It’s a great read for any Madonna fan!
