*Up In The Air star Melanie Lynskey told me she wasn’t fully comfortable on the red carpet – despite starring opposite Hollywood hotties George Clooney and Matt Damon recently. She joked: “I’m so bad at red carpet. I don’t mind doing chats with intelligent people who have good questions but I get uncomfortable with photographs. I need to be taught. I guess at least I have a light load on my shoulders and don’t have to go to all the awards.
The poor thing was even nervous about meeting other fellow film stars at the Critics Choice Movie Awards. She laughed: “I didn’t meet anybody I wanted to because I’m too shy but I stood next to Meryl Street and Quentin Tarantino.”

*Remember this name – Luke Evans. He’s the hot new Welsh hunk taking Hollywood by storm. He’ll be seen in new blockbuster Clash of the Titans playing Apollo (Liam Neeson plays his father Zeus). He’s charming and told me he’s loving life at the Bafta LA British Tea Party last week: “Clash of the Titans was my first film venture. So it’s been crazy. Liam’s playing my father which is so funny. I was acting even better because I was alongside him and Sam Worthington and Ralph Fiennes.
“I was literally terrified on the first day. Once you see a reflection of yourself in the mirror and you have 22 carat gold armour on and you look mean you relax a little.”
After Clash Luke has four movies coming out. Blitz with Jason Statham, the Stephen Frears flick Tamara Drewe opposite Gemma Arterton not to mention  Sex & Drugs and Rock & Roll and a cameo in the Russell Crowe Robin Hood movie.

*St Trinian’s star Talulah Riley has moved out to LA full time to try and carve a movie career – but she misses cheese! She revealed: “I live here now and I’m bereft of all English people. I miss Cheddar cheese so much – it’s plastic and rubbish out here.” That it is!
Talulah added that she hopes for another St Trinian’s film sometime in the future. “It’s great to have had so much success with the films,” she said. “It was a great film to hang out with the girls on. I think they’re plans for 20 more.” I have to say another one of those movies is a hellish thought!

*Step aside Johnny Vegas – Maggie Gyllenhaal could replace you as the face of PG Tips if you don’t watch it. She tells me: “I love PG Tips. I love that tea so much. I was in the UK for four months shooting the new Nanny McPhee in the summer and I loved it.” The star was elegant as usual and said it didn’t take her long to dress for the plush Bafta event. “This time for the Globes I got one dress and that’s what I wore but if I’m nominated it’s different ball game and I’ll literally try 30 dresses on,” she added.

*The Young Victoria star Emily Blunt is backing fellow Brit Carey Mulligan all the way when it comes to awards glory. The star, who sadly failed to be nominated for a Lead Actress Bafta this week, said: “I think it’s a good year for the Brits and we’re thrilled. It’s tough for young British actresses to come over to the US and be in a film and be appreciated and for the role to do well. So I’m pleased for people like Carey Mulligan – she took my breath away in An Education.”

*Irish The Lovely Bones star Saoirse Ronan kept it real on the red carpet in LA. “I’m wearing a Warehouse dress actually,” she said despite being the toast of Hollywood with her Critics Choice win. “It’s crazy out here – I got to meet people like Meryl Streep – that’s been the highlight.”

*Precious star Gabourey Sidibe remains calm about her chances of an Oscar nomination for her role in the flick that everybody’s talking about! She told me: “For this film to have been recognised means so much to me. I’m enjoying going to all these shows and meeting people. I’m not even thinking about the Oscars yet – it’s just too much to handle.” I reckon she’ll lift the famous statuette on Oscar night!

My last few ‘spotteds’ for you guys – Sharon Stone and Melanie Griffith grabbed lunch yesterday at Joan’s on 3rd Street. Melanie looks like she’s had a facial overhaul from a surgeon whereas Sharon actually shone compared. It’s so frustrating that Melanie’s messed up her face like she has – I’ve met her before and she’s an adorable woman with a good heart. The pair of them ate a plate of green leaves each (nothing else, whatsoever!) and Melanie chain smoked…..

Also spotted – Joan and Jackie Collins enjoying dinner at Cecconi’s whilst Madonna’s rumoured ex boy toy A-Rod sat on a nearby table for food. Jackie’s ‘bigger’ and not half as fabulous as Joanie. But they cut a fine pair in the newly opened up market Italian eaterie.

I got a lovely little surprise when I swung by the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel yesterday evening two nights ago too. I was sat on the table directly next to the gorgeous Rachel’s Getting Married star Anne Hathaway. This is one young lady who doesn’t disappoint in real life and she loooked sooooo pretty! She was having a late business meeting. Also there was Simon Cowell’s ex Terri Seymour – Anne and Terri greeted each other like they were old friends!

Another star that was out on the town this week was Spice Girl Mel B. The star told me she was enjoying “Date Night” with her hubby Stephen Belafonte as they sat down on a nearby table to me at STK the other evening. Mel also decided to take me to Barry’s Bootcamp for a workout the day before. A full review of that to follow shortly…..all I’ll say is Melanie is HARDCORE when it comes to her exercise. But I just about kept up!

The 24 star had three full whisky and cokes in his hand and he downed each of them, one after the other, in less than 30 seconds. My jaw dropped to the ground! And when approached by a fan for a picture I watched him look at her, turn back to the barman and ordered another drink – blatantly ignoring her!

Definitely a funny way for a recovering alcoholic to be acting…..

Gordon spent part of his evening last night talking to glamour girl Jordan – they spoke about marathon running. Jordan was asking advice to Gordon – who run umpteen marathons over the years. I do hope that Victoria Beckham didn’t catch Gordon and wife Tana (Victoria’s close friend) talking to Jordan. Posh and Jordan have been sworn enemies for many years now – and she wouldn’t have liked the fact Tana was mixing it up with Jordie!

Oh, and everyone’s talking about whether Jordan and Posh actually met last night. They definitely didn’t and were seated on opposite sides of the room! Clever Uncle Elton – he must have had a personally worked on that seating plan!

But meeting Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg was a real treat at the exclusive bash. Whoopi, who’s hosted the Oscars before now, told me she was thrilled with Hugh Jackman’s skills at hosting the ceremony this year. She said: “Hugh was just perfect – and exactly what the Oscars needs. And who knew he could sing and dance like that! I, on the other hand, had to starve myself for days to get into that dress and feel far more comfortable wearing my slacks.” Whoopi was wearing Converse trainers and a flowy trousers and shirt combo. She also revealed she’d coming to London in two weeks time. She added: “I love it over there in London. I’m coming over and have a lot planned during my stay!” We can’t wait to have you, Whoopi!

Myleene posed for snappers outside the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre to promote her role for CNN. The star’s spending a few days out in LA with her baby Ava and sister in tow. She told me she couldn’t wait to see the stars at the Oscars: “I’m so grateful to have a job like I do when things like the Oscars come around. I’m looking forward to meeting them all – but Brangelina would be amazing to interview.

“At the minute I’m just trying to get rid of my jet lag! I’m feeling horrible!” She certainly wasn’t looking horrible in her Klassy white frock. In fact, she caused quite a stir outside the Theatre – with British fans flocking the minute the camera flashes started going off!

I was there again to mingle alongside the stars. Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Canon looked happier than ever before and apparently earlier in the evening Mariah and beyonce were seen having a heart to heart and hugging at a table. Nice to know two huge divas like that can get alone. Beyonce was looking super cool without a shred of make-up and a wooley hat. She refused to have her picture taken by the in house photographer despite blagging a free dinner at the exclusive venue! Cheeky chops!

But the big star to turn out for the opening was Jennifer Aniston. She was hanging out with friends and boyfriend John Mayer was nowhere to be seen!

Other stars at the venue included legendary actor Peter Fonda who sat eating with pals, Elle Macpherson and Tamara Mellon, Lady Victoria Hervey, Terri Seymour, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale (who had been with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher earlier in the evening for the Dominoes event – which Ashton won!), hot RocknRoller star Toby Kebbell who’s out in LA having tonnes of meetings for new film projects right now and Cat Deeley and Jack Huston.
