Like most people I was shocked when Orlando Bloom bowed out of the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. But it seems the star is happy with his decision. Speaking in London this week the star said: “No no regrets, not all at all. I feel great about it. I mean, I worked really consistently for such a long time on two very big franchises and it’s a lot of work – so it was really nice to take some time out. I did a play after, then did some travelling went to Antarctica, I produced a film and then did a couple of little movies. It was nice doing stuff for me – nice to get the creative juices flowing again doing stuff that I wanted to do – that I love.”
But it sounds like becoming a father, after his missus Miranda Kerr gave birth to the couple’s first boy Flynn recently, has changed his whole perception on life. “I know it was a big decision,” he admitted. “There are a lot of really talented young guys out there doing what they do and doing it really well but I don’t think of it like that anymore it’s about doing stuff that speaks to me, that I’m gonna love and also about being able to have a life outside of making movies. I’m a dad now and my perspective has changed. I think Pirates is going to be really good and I’m looking forward to seeing it but it will be strange to watch it at cinema as the audience!”
And just in case I didn’t realise how happy he was as a father he added: “He’s is amazing truly gorgeous! It’s honestly the best thing in the world – yes you don’t get much sleep but you don’t care.
“I can’t get enough of him, the smell of him is just agghhhh amazing – the smell of his little head, amaaaaaaazing and his breath, everything, man I just wanna eat him…eat him up!” Bless!
