Katie Price continues to flip over comedian Frankie Boyle's Harvey joke

Posted by Dean Piper On December 12th, 2010

Katie Price today spoke out against Channel 4 for repeating comedian Frankie Boyle’s evil joke about her disabled child Harvey.
The channel stood by Frankie Boyle by repeating Tramadol Nights without cutting his joke about Harvey.
The second screening came after the model’s lawyers lodged a formal complaint with TV watchdogs Ofcom, after the broadcaster declined to apologise for the gag.
Boyle’s joke was: “I have a theory about the reason Jordan married a cage fighter – she needed a man strong enough to stop Harvey from fucking her.”
Harvey, Price’s eight-year-old son with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke, has a condition known as septo-optic dysplasia, which makes him blind. He is also on the autistic spectrum, gains weight easily, and finds walking difficult.
In a new statement Katie told me: “By repeating Frankie Boyle’s show, Channel 4 are embracing and exploiting discrimination. They are saying it is ok to ridicule people – even children – for disability in a way they would not dare over race or sexual orientation.
The people who control the Channel are endorsing this behaviour and it is disgusting. Even the fact that Ofcom are investigating the first broadcast has not made them divert from this path.
“This issue is not about me, other than Harvey is my son. This issue is about discrimination.  Back in the 1970s a so-called comedian called Bernard Manning was banned from TV for racist jokes. By broadcasting these vile sexual comments about Harvey, and then insisting on repeating them, Channel Four are trying to take us back to an era when discrimination was accepted. They mustn’t be allowed to get away with it.”
She added: “I know how upset any mother of a disabled child would be at this
treatment and naturally I am, but there is a bigger issue here. It is whether we want to accept it is ok for anyone, never mind a publicly owned TV Channel, to treat disability discrimination differently from other forms of unacceptable discrimination.”

Never thought I’d say these two words in the same sentence but on this occasion “I agree” with her. Taking the p*** out of a disabled child is not funny or clever. Channel 4 should be ashamed and Frankie Boyle should just do us a favour and disappear. He’s not funny anyway, even when the jokes are funny.

It’s a joke get over it! lets not have the world become a place where people can’t tell jokes. Personally I thought it was funny because I KNOW it was a JOKE. He slags everyone off and doesn’t pick on any one person :)
