It was great to catch up with Donna Air at the Veuve Clicquot Polo at Cowdray Park last weekend. The former Byker Grove actress was on fine form and tells me she’s preparing to run the Great North Run for charity. She laughed: “I’m doing the run this year and I’ve not trained that much. I’ve only really had four proper trainging sessions so I hope I’ll be able to do it and finish.”

The star – who split from the father of daughter Freya last year, Damian Aspinall – also told me she’s having fun hunting for a new man. She’s even rediscovered partying! “I’m on a role right now,” she beamed. “I’ve been out every night this week and I love going to events like this. There are lots of handsome men around!”

Donna, who’s auditioning for roles and hopes to be back acting next year, sounds like a domesticated Goddess these days. She also told me her daughter associates her with roast chicken nowadays! She said: “Freya has been with her dad so she’s coming home today. It’s so exciting. I always cook her a meal from scratch every day. It’s got to the point that when she smells a roast chicken she says it smells of mummy. I love cooking her a good northern dinner!” Yum, that sort of talk makes me hungry!
