Hollywood star Rosario Dawson flew into town from Los Angeles yesterday to appear at the product launch of Tara Smith’s new hair care range.
Session hairdresser Tara, who worked on the Sex and the City movie and who’s clients include the likes of Demi Moore, Natalie Imbruglia and Yasmin Le Bon, hosted the afternoon soiree at the plush Hempel Hotel in London.
The range itself will be available in Tesco in October and is affordable. I tried it this morning actually and it’s ace – and even better the range boasts being completely natural and organic – and tested on film stars not animals. Phew.
And Tara must be well in there if she’s getting the likes of Sin City and Death Proof film star Rosario to fly across the world for the launch.
Rosario in real life is beautiful – stunning in fact and highly intelligent by all accounts. Talking about what products get her through her day to day life she told me: “I don’t rely on products to get me through life. I drink a lot of water. I wear Tara Smith’s hair serum for my flyaways and her feed the root shampoo and conditioner for my hair and scalp and they are fantastic. My rose lip balm is probably the only thing I can’t live without. I use it for everything.”
And it’s actually sleep and water that keep her looking so fit and well.
“I’m not a gym bunny,” she says. “I’m a workaholic. I’m a huge sleeper. I would be happy with 10 hours a day but get a bit less. I need that amount to keep everything in control.”
Rosario was accompanied by her French boyfriend Mathieu Schrever and they looked completely smitten at the event. Other celebs that swung by included Natalie Imbruglia, Yasmin Le Bon, Melanie Blatt, Lisa B and June Sarpong.
Rosario has just finished work on new film Seven Pounds where she co-stars alongside Will Smith and Woody Harrelson. She told me: “I’m not working on a film right now. I’m on down time. I’ve just finished a film with Will Smith that comes out in December that was a lot of fun. I’d love to work with Will again and it was great to work with Woody too – he’s a great guy. I like working with people that I know. It would be great to work with Quentin Tarantino again too – I’m hoping on his next movie.”
She has an amazingly athletic body – but if she didn’t have to watch her figure she would shovel crisps down her gob all day like any of us would! She laughed: “I don’t really snack on sweet foods. If I could I would eat salt and vinegar chips all day long. But obviously I can’t. I do like chocolate too!”
