News reaches me that the MTV Movie Awards were almost called off last night after a fire broke out at Universal City last last night.
A source reveals: “The set caught light and they were worried they would have to scrap the awards last minute. It was touch and go – but they are going ahead and everyone is relieved the fire didn’t ruin the entire event.”
UPDATE: The source adds: “The fire started at 4.45am and took out two sets including the set of New York street used in Seinfeld and Sex and the City, a tape library and the King Kong building. Three fire fighters were also injured in the blaze. Fortunaely the awards are fine – but it was close.”
