Doctor Who Series Four Screening

Posted by Dean Piper On April 2nd, 2008

I must admit, I have only recently started getting into Doctor Who – so I did have reason to feel rather over excited attending a screening to celebrate the start of the fourth series of Doctor Who last night. David Tennant and his new sidekick Catherine Tate were both in attendance – and the fans loved it.
It was kinda crazy actually when David arrived outside. The council won’t allow crowd barriers to keep people back outside the cinema on Regent Street so the poor guy was besieged by crazed autograph hunters. It was like watching a scene from 28 Weeks Later when the infected set upon a new victim!
Giving David credit – he signed everyone’s books before going inside!
I had a nice little chat with Radio One legend Jo Whiley about how much she loved Doctor Who – she brought her two boys and they couldn’t wait to see the screening! It must be so cool having a mum like Jo – effortlessly rock and roll and altogether a nice girl with it.
I also spotted Kylie’s stylist friend William Baker there – he’s a self confessed science fiction fan and spent the evening air kissing all the crew he had obviously worked with when Miss Minogue appeared in the Christmas episode of the show.
Sadly Billie Piper was a no show…..
Doctor Who can be seen this Saturday, BBC1 at 6.20pm.

After the screening I went off to meet Jodie Harsh at posh curry house Mint Leaf. He was DJing with Sarah Harding’s boy toy Tom Crane. It had a great vibe there – loads of dressed down drag Queens and funky people seemed to be floating around. It was definitely the place to be seen in!
I had a nice chat with Amy Winehouse’s former squeeze Tyler James and enjoyed a catch up with Jodie – who ended up popping to Amy’s house for a cuppa on his way home!

From there it was off to meet Alex Best (George’s ex missus) at Zuma for a bite to eat. She turned up wearing a fabulous Secret Circus leather waistcoat. She was mincing around the restaurant showing it off at every opportunity. The food in there is out of control good in that restaurant!
I then briefly popped into Dolce nightclub where Elle Macpherson was apparently turning out for the launch of a new magazine called Shape. Elle didn’t show…..which was a big shame. It was also fairly dead in there…..

It was certainly another fun night out in London!
