I’ve just literally dragged my butt off of the red carpet for the UK premiere of The Rolling Stones fly on the wall documentary film Shine A Light. The film is directed by none other than cinema legend Martin Scorsese – who started following the band and documenting their lives in Autumn 2006.
Ronnie Wood told the press he was currently working with Amy Winehouse on her next album – how cool is that! The Stones have made no secret of the fact that they love Amy’s voice and vibe – so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Ronnie told me: “This film only scratches the surface – our careers a much bigger picture.” Speaking of his favourite film of all time the star told me: “Raging Bull!”
The band look slightly hilarious in real life – they are so wrinkly. Ronnie Wood smoked all the way down the red carpet, Keith Richards wore a hat and looked cooler than ever before, Mick Jagger looks miles older than he does in pictures or on stage when he’s a foot away from you and Charlie Watts looks altogether frail. Mick arrived with his missus L’Wren Scott. She is honestly one of the tallest people I’ve ever seen – and she didn’t dare wear full high heels. Instead she was kitten heeled up…….
There’s no escaping the fact I had musical legends within spitting distance of me tonight! Also swanning down the red carpet were Liam Gallagher and wife Nicole Appleton who scowled at the press as per usual, Chris Evans and his pretty new wife Natasha, Mighty Boosh comedian Noel Fielding, Peaches and Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung, Fifi Brown, Jaime Winstone and Edith Bowman.
I definitely got a full dose of satisfaction (sorry!) this evening! The flick, which features performances by Christina Aguilera and Jack White, is out nationwide from April 11.
