My first night in Los Angeles was great. Official. I popped out for a quiet dinner at Cafe Med on Sunset and was pleasantly surprised when Semi-Pro star Woody Harrelson arrived for dinner with three mates. “Can we get some vino,” the voice said. I knew it was Woody straight away.
But it got better…..
Minutes later Owen Wilson arrived at the restaurant dressed in jeans and a slightly odd green jacket! He was on his best behaviour you’ll be pleased to know and there was no drinking going on. Good to see after his spell in rehab following his suicide attempt a few months back.
After dinner I headed over to the swish make shift Soho House that’s been set up for the Oscars. It’s set in an office building on the penthouse floor overlooking the whole of downtown LA. It’s stunning – and packed full of beautiful people! The night before Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore had all been in the house.
Elton John and David Furnish arrived just after me with shoe designer Patrick Cox. Elton stayed for approximately five minutes after working the room quickly. He was sporting a blonder than usual wig….
Hilariously Piers Morgan (who considers himself a ‘bigger’ star than most Hollwood faces nowadays) was standing next to me when Elton walked in. Elton came and said hello to him. He was ecstatic everybody in the room had seen the greeting. He said to me after: “You did clock that right? Elton said hello to me. It’s hard being more famous than him.” Indeed, in your own head it must be Mr Morgan. He makes me laugh….
